Abstract
Effect of poly(glycolic acid)(PGA) fiber reinforcement on the mechanical properties of poly(lactic acid)(PLA) was investigated. It was found that bending properties of PLA can be improved by dispersing PGA fiber, however tensile strength was reduced. In addition, effect of lysine diisocyanate(LDI) addition as reactive additive of PLA and PGA was also investigated. It was found that tensile strength of PLA/PGA fiber composite can be improved by LDI addition, because of the improvement of interfacial strength between PLA matrix and PGA fiber due to chemical bonding such as urethane bonding.
