Abstract

Owing to the rapid development of laser processing technology for metals, complicated and precise lightweight structures can be manufactured relatively easily. In particular, power-bed fusion process-based 3D printers for metals have been used widely for producing mechanical components. A lattice structure with the length order of micro-metre can be also produced by the metal 3D printer. In this presentation, the structural, thermal and sound absorption properties of lattice structures fabricated by the 3D printer that the author has been studied during the 13 years were introduced. A lattice structure has great potential for use in a wide range of high-performance engineering components.
