To assess residual creep life without adversely affecting power plant components, test methods using miniature creep specimens have been developed. However, the size of conventional uniaxial miniature creep specimens is 1 to 2 mm in reduced section diameter and 30 mm in length, and test methods with smaller specimens are demanded to be developed. In this study, a uniaxial creep test method using a miniature thin-plate specimen (Ultra-MC specimen), similar in size to a SPC specimen, was developed and the results were verified by comparison with the results from a standard specimen. The time to rupture of the Ultra-MC specimen was equivalent to that of the standard specimen and showed small variation.
