Steel plates for automobiles are subjected to large plastic deformation such as bending and press working. The local microstructures and mechanical properties can be changed significantly. In recent years, hot-rolled steel sheets have been applied to achieve higher strength and thinner wall thickness to reduce fuel consumption, but the relationship between the local microstructures and mechanical properties of hot-rolled steel sheets after processing is still unclear in many areas. This study investigated the effect of plastic working by bending on the local strength of hot-rolled steel sheets by evaluating the changes in microstructures and strength by ultra-small tensile tests.
