Abstract
The FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) is a composite, which is incorporated glass fiber or carbon fiber into the plastics. In the last few years, an idea to use FRP as a grinding tool came out. We use a type of reinforced plastics which is incorporated with alumina fibers, as the grinding tool. As for the experiments, we make the tool diameter as 3mm and the alumina fiber diameter to three different sizes. We design a special devise to set the FRP tool to a grinding machine. The devise is designed so that the FRP tool is pressured constantly while grinding, in order to know, how the pressure can effects the surface roughness after the grinding. And the results, we found that majority of the data is better than before, and in some condition of experiments, the surface roughness reach to 0.5 μm, which is the best result in our research.
