Abstract
Improvement of machining process planning is an effective way to reduce the manufacturing time and cost, and to realize the desirable functions which are described by designers. This paper proposes a machining process planning system which can flexibly perform process planning considering design intentions and dealing with disturbances in manufacturing process via choosing the optimum plaris from multiple candidates. The core of the mechanism contains (1)Extraction of Total Removal Volume(TRV) (2)Decomposition of the TRY into Minimum Convex Polyhedrons (MCP) (3)Recomposition of MCPs to feasible manufacturing features sets(MFs sets) (4)Recognition of manufacturing feature(MF)(5)Determination of machining sequences by considering various constraints (6)Comparison of each candidate which contains a certain MFs set and machining sequence to obtain the most optimum plan. All the functions are realized and implemented on DLL format compiled in Visual C++ and SolidWorks API.
