Abstract
In 5-axis control machining, it is important to shorten the processing time of generating infterference-free tool path between tool and workpiece and to realize the continuous change in tool postures. Thus, the paper describes the system generating interferencefree tool paths based of not in the cutting point but cutting line. The system generates the ruled surface between an offset curved line from a cutting curved line by a tool radius and a curved line on an interference surface with workpiece, and avoids the interference by rotating the ruled surface. Tool postures corresponding to a cutting line are determined by selecting the curved line in a closed area surrounded by two ruled curved surfaces, thus generating interference-free tool path. The effectiveness of our system was made clear by simulating the machining of impeller.
