Abstract
In our previous study, a new centerless grinding method using surface grinder was proposed. This paper describes the effects of process parameters on the machining accuracy. A grinding model is considered at first for simulation analysis of workpiece rounding process in tangential-feed centerless grinding operations. Then, simulation analysis is carried out to predict the variation of workpiece roundness and to discover how the process parameters affect the roundness. Finally actual grinding operations are performed for the confirmation of the simulation results. The results indicated that the smaller worktable feed rate and higher workpiece rotational speed or smaller grinding allowance give the better roundness.
