Abstract
Electrolyte jet turning was carried out by jetting electrolyte from a nozzle toward the rotating workpiece while applying voltage between the nozzle and the workpiece. Since the jetted electrolyte dissolves metallic materials regardless of their hardness, difficult-to-cut materials like tungsten carbide (WC) alloy can be machined efficiently, if the proper electrolyte and power supply are used. In this research, wc alloy was machined with a bipolar pulse power supply in order to improve the machining rate and machined groove shape. Also, to eliminate the wear of tool nozzle, a new power feeding method by using a diode and a stainless plate for the bipolar pulse power supply. In addition, shape machining of tunigsten carbide alloy was tried by overlapping simple grooves in the axial direction of the workpiece.
