Abstract
Recently, processes in manufacturing industry have been automated increasingly using various automatic machines. However, automation of polishing process is difficult due to demands for skills and sense of human. Then, our laboratory has been aiming at fully automation of polishing process using an industrial robot. In the previous study, original CAM system was developed to realize the automation of polishing process. However, CAM system's flexibility and versatility is insufficient because it only copes with the surface machined with scan milling path. If it enables to generate more various paths, many type of polishing will be possible. This study aims to generate various polishing paths by using the NC data that is output from the commercial CAM software. In addition, we have devised the method to automatically generate robot programs with consideration of tool location to avoid sudden change in movement of industrial robot.
