Abstract
Rolling bearings, which are widely used to support rotating shafts for several industrial machineries, are based on tribology. Tribology is the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion and of related subjects and practices and it is an engineering field that deals with friction, wear, and lubrication etc. In this paper, elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication (EHL), which is the basis of lubrication theory of rolling bearings, are explained with a focus on an introduction to an application of tribology in high efficiency technology for tapered roller bearings that are used in many automotive applications.
