Abstract
In order to investigate the influence of peripheral cutting edge helix angle to the wall precision in finishing process of high hardened steel, we conducted some experiments by using different helix angle prototypes. The result is that wall machining error is tend to degrease with increasing helix angle. But, in case of helix angle over 37°(the number of contact edge is 4NT) , wall machining error is tend to increase gradually. Because cutting force to radial direction (Fy) change is also same tendency as wall machining error. Therefore, we surmise that the tool deflection is suppressed, and the wall machining error is also improved. On the other hand, concerning helix angle over 37°, we guess that this phenomenon is concerned with the number of contact edge. In case of over the number of contact edge 4NT, the increased cutting force by the contact edge is more influenced to wall machining error than the change of cutting force by helix angle.
