Abstract
The vibration isolation system using negative stiffness realized by active control technique was studied experimentally. An apparatus with two voice coil motors was developed; they were used for realizing negative stiffness and for adjusting positive stiffness and damping characteristics, respectively. The equalization of the amplitude of negative and positive stiffness enabled the system to have zero-compliance against direct disturbance. A feedforward control was introduced for improving the transient response to stepwise direct disturbance. The efficacy was confirmed experimentally.
