Abstract
I evaluated about characteristic of friction, wear and bending fatigue strength on the main ropes of elevator. (1) If it increase value of the undercut angle to 5 degrees, traction ratio of the rope increase about 10% . Also in case of 10 degrees, the value grow up to about 20%. (2) The wear normally increases by increasing value of the undercut angle, but it can reduce the value by to select the material of rope and sheave. (3) Fretting fatigue life which is caused by rope creep and cyclic bending when the rope is passing along the sheave can be explain by functions of rope tension, D/d and numbers of broken element wires.
