Abstract
In thixocasting it is necessary to keep the fluidity of slurry. Then, in most cases, structure of the ingot for thixocasting was changed from dendrite to granular crystal by stirring method. In this investigation, the ingot was manufactured by cooling slope method in which device was simpler than stirring method. Mechanical properties and microstructure of thixocast product were investigated. As the result, Thixocast product showed higher tensile strength and elongation than that of the diecast. The shape of primary a phase crystal was granular crystal.
