Abstract
Mode II fracture behavior of rubber modified and unmodified epoxy adhesives are studied. Especially to investigate the crack growth behavior in adhesive layers, adhesively bonded end-notched flexure (ENF) specimens were loaded in four point bending. Experimental results were arranged as R-curves. Then, a finite element analysis was also conducted to investigate stress distributions near the crack tip. Based on these results, the effect of rubber modification on the crack initiation and propagation behavior was discussed.
