Abstract
This paper describes a new melt drag process for producing magnesium alloy strip with boss. This magnesium alloy part is made by model melt drag process. Model melt drag process replace solidification roll with flat substrate. The substrate has circular cylinder cavity. Molten magnesium alloy AZ31 feed into this cavity and form boss. For under 5mm diameter boss, we proposed enveloped casting. Core material is set up to substrate. Core materials are Cu, Al and SUS. And core shapes are rod, pipe and screw. Proposed enveloped casting is possible. Experiment conditions, microstructure between magnesium alloy and core material and peel strength are revealed.
