Abstract
AISI 630 stainless steel powder was processed by a commercially available selective laser melting machine. Resulting fine microstructure shows remnants of the forming process. Heat treatment and aging of fabricated bulk material result in creating a more equiaxed microstructure with minimal grain growth and increasing tensile stregth. Most mechanical properties when measured under strain rates 10^<-3> and 10^<-1> s^<-1> do not largely vary. Porosity shape and size strongly influence the elongation to failure for produced specimens regardless of heat treatment or strain rate tested.
