Abstract
Semisolid metal exists when strip was solidified from molten at the high speed roll casting. Some of the defects of roll cast strip were formed at semisolid condition. Surface crack and alligator crack at inside are typical defects which occur at semisolid condition. In this paper, elimination of the surface crack on 5182 aluminum alloy strip was investigated by a single roll caster equipped with a scraper which was originally proposed.
