Abstract
This study presents how the model is used to design the optimum variator geometry for its efficiency, fatigue life, size and weight. Especially, it explains that the sign of spin on the power transmission portion influences the efficiency significantly. CVTs are installed on various automobiles thanks to their compatibility between fuel economy and power performance. Above all, a toroidal CVT is characterized by a large torque capacity and high ratio change speed unlike other existing CVTs. To maximize these advantages, it is necessary to realize high power transmission efficiency, simultaneously satisfying durability and strength. The design method of the variator has been constructed by analysing effect of the geometry for the items.
