Abstract
The rack corresponding with straight-sided splines has been shown by M. Naruse and T. Matsuyama in 1942. However, they have not designed the hob on the basis of the rack. It is proper that they should not analyze the grinding wheel profile to grind the flank of spline hob. This paper shows that the grinding wheel profile is determined theoretically by considering the normal lines of the flank at the cutting edge of hob.
