Abstract
This paper describes a study on the load bearing capacity of newly developed high density sintered metal gears. Bending fatigue tests for gears of a newly developed high density sintered metal and contact fatigue tests for rollers were performed, respectively. Fatigue tests for surface-rolled sintered metal gears and rollers were also performed. Bending fatigue strength and surface durability of these gears and rollers, and the effect of surface-rolling on these strengths were determined. These results were compared with the results for wrought steel gears.
