Abstract
This paper deals with a operation support method in machining. A framework of intelligent machining support is proposed. The framework augments operator's machining skill by coordinating operation planning and machining simulation. A conventional approach of operation planning with machining simulator is called simulation-based operation planning. The approach generates efficient plans only in predetermined situation, because the relationship between planner and simulator should be fixed in advance. A feature of proposed framework in user customization of the planner and the simulator. The customization activities of software are executed according to the operator's situation understanding. Then, proposed method is expected to applicable to the various machining situations.
