Abstract
In this research, to flexibly accommodate high-mix very-low-volume production, sudden failure, etc., an autonomous decentralized manufacturing system using machine tool agents is proposed. The machine tool agent is required to have a process planning function and a scheduling function. To realize these indispensable functions, the construction of the machine tool model is necessary. A machine tool agent performs process planning using a machine tool model and a product model. A machine tool agent communicates with other machine tool agents and determines a process plan. In the machine tool model, tool functions are described using XML. As a trial implementation, machine operation scheduling is performed using these XML descriptions.
