Abstract
A cutting force model for end mills with consideration of runout effects is introduced in this paper. The cutter runout caused by cutter setup can be expressed a location angle and a radical offset. An estimation method, which can accurately identify these two parameters from a surface geometry, is also proposed. The feasibilities of the cutting force model and the runout determination method are demonstrated by comparing estimated and measured cutting forces.
