Unforeseen events in manufacturing, such as tool breakage or machine breakdowns, often incur degradation of productivity. This study aims to build a reactive scheduling method that can respond to unexpected events flawing a current production schedule and catch up with the planned schedule as quickly as possible. We have focused on the adaptive operations of a material handling manipulator and its sequencing toward enhancing automated reactive scheduling. This paper produces a basic model of the sequencing of manipulation operations and adaptive functions of the manipulator against a sudden stoppage of a machine tool.
