Abstract
The fluid flows and heat transfer characteristics in a turbulent natural-convecton boundary layer in air along a vertical pate heated at high temperature have been experimentally investigated. Under the condition of a uniform surface temperature in the range of 90-300℃, two kinds of measurements were carried out, i. e., one was a cold-wire measurement for the thermal field and the other was PIV measurement for the velocity field, and it was found that the profiles of turbulent quantities in the boundary layer were well correlated with the similarity variables for the laminar boundary layer when physical properties were evaluated at the film temperature except for coefficient of volume expansion. Then, the region of transition from laminar to turbulence does not so much change with the surface temperature.
