Abstract
Our laboratory has been developing various waste power generation systems based on the processes of gasification/pyrolysys/reforming combined with various engines. The main feature of produced gases is their relatively low heating value. So, we need to choose the optimum engines for power power generation. For this use, there are several candidate types of engines. Stirling engines are generally said that the efficiency is high and the emission is low. Reciprocating engines are used at various gasification plants. Gasified gas contains hydrogen gas. Rotary engine is said to be compatible with hydrogen. Characteristics of these engines fueled with simulated low calories gas and gasified gas was analyzed. It has been shown that Stirling engines have highest potential due to its high efficiency and low emissions.
