Abstract
The multi-stage adsorption chillers, namely, the two-stage adsorption chiller and the three-stage adsorption chiller can be driven by low temperature under 70℃. The purpose of the study is to clarify the optimal performances of the multi-stage adsorption chillers from the viewpoint of the maximization of specific cooling capacity (SCC). A simulation program to predict the performance of the multi-stage adsorption chillers was developed, and the cycle simulation was performed. The optimal cycle time to maximize the SCC was found using the particle swarm optimization. The comparison of the optimal preformances of the multi-stage adsorption chillers revealed that the two-stage adsorption chiller was superior to the single-stage and three-stage adsorption chillers within a wide range of the driving temperature.
