Abstract
Landfill gas (LFG) collection is considered as one of the conservative counter-measures against global warming. However, existing projects reveal that they are faced with many problems due to severe technical and financial reasons caused by uncertainty of LFG estimation, difficulty of gas engine operation with LFG by partial load and various boundary conditions such as price of Certified Emission Reduction (CER), electricity selling prices and additional necessary equipments. It is not recommended in the light of environmental not to generate electricity with LFG. The paper describes the specifications and other requisites which gas engines have to meet to be adapted in the LFG collection projects.
