Abstract
Solubilization of glass composite epoxy board was carried out in some organic solvents or tar derived from Japanese cedar at 200- 300℃ for 60 min under 0.1 - 2.0MPa. The epoxy board hardly dissolved at 200℃, however, it solved in cresol, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and benzyl alcohol at 250℃. Particularly, in the presence of sodium hydroxide, it dissolved almost completely in benzyl alcohol even at 200℃. Tar derived from dry distillation of Japanese cedar was able to be used as an alternative solvent, because the tar contain some aromatic alcohols compounds which are effective for solubilization of the epoxy resin, the epoxy resin dissolved almost completely at 250℃. These our experimental results suggest that the tar derived from waste wood is effective as a practical solvent to dissolve the waste printed circuit boards.
