Abstract
A ground source heat pump (GSHP) uses pipes which are buried in the ground to extract heat from the ground. The conventional GSHP system adopts an indirect heat exchange method using a closed loop and vertical borehole system. The purpose of this study is to establish the GSHP system using a direct expansion method. The direct expansion method for heat exchange will be more efficient comparing with the conventional indirect heat exchange method. However, there is few report of a performance data of the GSHP using the direct expansion method so far The performance of the direct expansion GSHP system was obtained using two types of bore holes (50m and 75m in depth). This paper described preliminary results of the coefficient of performance of the direct expansion GSHP system.
