Abstract
This study investigates characteristics of horse-shoe vortex systems in the thin layer parallel to a flat plate. The experiments were carried out by flow visualization and PIV for the flows around the obstacle of h/d=2.0(40mm in height (h) and 20mm in width (d)) mounted on a flat plate in a water channel. As a result, there were clarified to be 3 kinds of flow pattems in the Horse-shoe Vortex from laminar to turbulent flow in the thin layer parallel to the surface. In the flow of h/d=2.0,karman vortex is formed different from the case of h/d=0.5,the influence of which reaches on the surface of flat plate. But the Reynolds stress excited by the Karman vortex is weaker than the case of h/d=0.5.
