Abstract
Cryosurgery is a technical procedure in which heat is removed from tissue by applying low temperature and inducing freezing. In order to provide cooling to destroy cells and tissues, cryogens such as liquid nitrogen or argon gas were used. But the temperature control for freezing or thawing is difficult when these cryogens are used, therefore there are possibility of damaging near normal tissue owing to excessive freezing and of aggravation of lesion owing to inadequate freezing. In this study, coolant circulating form cryosurgical system utilizing FPSC and peltier device was newly developed that precise temperature control is enable with precise quantity of current supply. The no-load cooling test is performed at first and the performance of the system is evaluated cryosurgery on mouse liver. As a result in no-load, the coolant temperature dropped at the rate of -1.03℃/min, and achieved -60℃ at 90 minute. Cell necrosis was observed in all mice.
