Abstract
Visualization of PM trapping and reaction phenomena in micro-structural pores was succeeded and PM behavior in the porous body of SiC DPF was clarified in the current study. In PM trapping process, It was observed that relatively large PMs which have diameters of a few micrometers order were trapped well in pores of SiC DPF, especially near the superficial layer, and was blown off in the direction of deeper layer. Then, in DPF regeneration process, it was observed that the combustion of PMs started from these surfaces touching working gases gradually.
