Abstract
Experimental study has been carried out to investigate the heat transfer characteristics of emulsion, which consists of water and hydrocarbons of n-hexane, n-pentane and n-heptane with a trace of surfactant. Heat transfer of an electrically heated horizontal Pt wire was measured for ambient emulsion temperatures and hydrocarbon contents. It is concluded that the heat transfer mode changes with an increase of surface temperature, which is almost the same to the boiling point of emulsified component of n-hexane and n-pentane. The effect of ambient temperature on heat transfer of emulsion was also discussed.
