Abstract
The Solar CO_2 Rankine System (SCRS) which uses CO_2 as working fluid and solar energy as power source was investigated. The purpose of the present study is to investigate solar collector performance of the SCRS and to estimate its power generation efficiency. The followings were found from the experimental and theoretical analyses. The solar collector efficiency reaches above 70% and furthermore it has possibility of being improved. It is confirmed the CO_2 is an effective working fluid in comparison with other fluids in thermodynamic cycle efficiency. Power generation efficiency of SCRS is higher than that of solar cell. However, in addition to power generation, SCRS also produce useful thermal energy.
