Abstract
This study applies the outflow boundary condition for unsteady-state and incompressible fluid flow computations to Simplified Marker and Cell (SMAC) method on an unstructured finite volume method. The concept is to correct outflow velocities using the summation of the discretized continuity equations over the entire computational domain. The mass conservativeness and the computational time were compared with the boundary condition of the original SMAC method in the isothermal backstep flow and thermal Karman vortex flow. In the both types of flow, the outflow boundary condition achieved high convergence performance compared with the conventional boundary condition.
