Abstract
In this study, the direction of thermocapillary flow in a circular liquid film was investigated. The direction of the thermocapillary flow depended on the free surface shapes in circular water films sustained in a circular wire and in a circular container. In order to shed light on the mechanisms of dependency of the flow direction on the free surface shapes, the relationship between vortex developing along the edge of the liquid film and the free surface shapes were investigated. In addition, the flow becomes oscillating flow especially in the deformed liquid film. The reason why the oscillating flow developed was also investigated.
