Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe growth interface of ice crystals whose basal plane and cooling wall are parallel growing along a cooling wall and quantitative evaluation of ice crystal shapes. Growth interface of ice crystals growing along a cooling wall was observed using a continuous plate-like ice making system with a metallic belt. From the observation, we confirmed that the ice crystal cells growth interface shape changed according to interface moving velocity. Additionally, from image processing of ice crystal cells, as interface moving velocity is faster, we confirmed that number of ice crystal cells increased.
