Abstract

This paper revealed that the flow patterns and condensation process in a condenser tube of the LHP at horizontal orientation by using a visualization technique. Two kinds of condenser tubes, a bare tube or a wire-coil inserted tube, were used for the test under the heat load range from 150W to 450W. When the flow patterns was in stratified flow, the steam-water interface was periodically oscillated owing the collision of the semi-slug toward the interface or rapid condensation of the isolated steam pocket. Consequently, it was clarified that the interface oscillation led to induce the flow oscillation and temperature oscillation.
