Abstract

The thickness of liquid film formed with liquid column oscillation within pulsating heat pipe was investigated. The liquid column was sinusoidally oscillated under various oscillating conditions. The average thickness of the liquid film was determined by comparing the oscillation amplitudes of the tip of liquid column with and without the liquid film. A vertically and horizontally located circular glass tubes with an inner diameter of 1 and 1.5 mm were used as the test channel. The experimental results revealed the effects of the channel orientation and the inner diameter on the formation of liquid film.
