Abstract

A two-dimensional density field including a shock wave in a transonic inlet diffuser is measured by the Mach-Zehnder interferometer with the finite-fringe setting. The diffuser has heights of 18 mm at the inlet, 6 mm at the throat, and 12 mm at the exit and a constant spanwise width of 15 mm from the inlet to the exit. The diffuser flow is demonstrated using time-dependent density contour maps to investigate the flow features of a self-excited shock oscillation.
