Abstract

Ice adhesion to a cooling solid surface was often studied by measuring ice adhesion force in a macro-scale. However, when ice was removed from metal surface, ice was broken due to its unevenness. Therefore, it is possible to measure accurate ice adhesion force because the breaking force is included in measured value. To solve this problem, one of authors developed the method measuring ice adhesion force in a nano-scale by Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM). In this study, using copper test plate, ice adhesion force was measured in various oxidation times by SPM. From the viewpoint of ice adhesion force, oxidation characteristic of the copper surface was clarified.
