Abstract
Trail-pedestrian collisions can lead to large human and cost problems. Based on the accident analysis, about 45% of railway injuries and fatalities are from train-pedestrian collisions. In order to clarify the injury process of the pedestrian, multi-body simulations were conducted. The head and chest of the pedestrian are directly impacted by the train, and the pedestrian is projected forward the train. Modifying train front geometry can prevent running over of pedestrian, though it is still difficult to prevent injuries to pedestrian from the ground contact.
