Abstract
This paper presents a fault tolerant flight control system using the simultaneous on-line fault/wind estimation and the control law based on the estimated data. The algorithm consists of the extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and the nonlinear inverse dynamics (NID) controller. The EKF estimates the control derivative changes and the wind-velocity components at the same time. The NID controller calculates control surface deflections and thrust to track the reference trajectory under gusty environment by using sensor output and estimates. It is confirmed that the algorithm is greatly useful to save and control aircraft in the hazardous situations.
