Abstract
We investigated a method of decomposing unsaturated polyester (UP) into low molecular weigh products. The method can apply to separate FRP into polymer solution, filler and glass fiber. The recovered filler and glass fiber are reuseable as raw materials for FRP. To raise the efficiency of the decomposition, we examined treatment conditions. As a result, we found that the treatment time was shorten by 1/5 of the current conditions by the removing water from the catalyst to 1% or less, and by increasing the amount of the catalyst up to 0.66mol/1000g solvent. We made the window frame of railway car using the recovered glass fiber, and we evaluated its performance.
