Abstract
Using the High beam will improve pedestrian visibility during nighttime driving. However, you will need to evaluate the effect of pedestrian visibility illuminated by headlamps in consideration of human factors, or human dynamics. Thus, we used a fixed-base driving simulator to verify the effectiveness of the pedestrian visibility among several headlamp beam patterns. We verified the effectiveness of the pedestrian's visibility difference between the headlamp beam patterns on the driver's avoidance when some pedestrians suddenly rush out in front of them at night. From the tests described above, we confirmed the effectiveness of high beam headlamp based on the pedestrian's visibility for the nighttime driving.
