Abstract
A new type dual mode transportation system called as "Bi-modal Transportation (BMT)" have been under development for several years. The BMT is based on technology of buses, and it has characteristics both of guided transportation and conventional road transportation. The technical points of this system are contactless vehicle guidance, mechanical coupling and automatic wheel steering. Two experimental BMT vehicles with non-step low floor have been built up, and proving tests are going to be carried out.
