Abstract
Many types of driving assistance systems have been developed in recent years. To achieve using continuous support for the drivers, haptic feedback has been proposed for more accurate driving, and it has some advantage compared to visual or auditory assists. Also, condition monitoring of a driver is considered important to assist the driver effectively. This paper deals with an experiment of haptic guidance steering system and monitoring of a driver's stress especially on highway. The driving experiment under four conditions is carried out; ON/OFF haptic guidance, and WITH/WITHOUT other traffics. By comparing driven data, effectiveness of haptic guidance and estimation of neuromuscular admittance is examined. As a result, driving with haptic guidance has shown smoother control of steering. Also, admittance decreased when other traffics exist, which is considered more stressful.
